Martingale System
The Martingale system is a negative progression system, one of the the oldest known systems for playing roulette. Here´s how it works:
It is a very easy system or method of betting at the roulette table and is based on the low chance of losing many times in a row: this roulette system is normallty applied to 'even money' bets, such as red, black, even, odd, 1-18, 19-36

Start with one roulette bet . If you win, you start again with the same bet. If you lose, double your bet. If you lose again, you double your bet again. The theory goes that you are bound to win at some point, and when you do you will have covered your losses as you are upping your bet every time.
Where this system breaks down, is at the House limit. Say the maximum bet is $300, and your initial bet was $10. You are covered for the following bets: $10, $20, $40, $80, $160. If you lose 5 times in a row, you will be unable to cover your losses on the next bet.
This can be a good way of being methodical in your betting, but bear in mind its limitations (in addition if the ball falls on the 0 pocket, you come a cropper). Best to use this method at tables with a high table limit, and make your initial bet a low one so that you have a good "run" of bets.
